Veterinary Pet Insurance - VPI ---poor choice
VPI reimbursed me around $600 for cancer surgery ---when the total bill was over $3,000...AND I had the SUPERIOR PLAN. Basically, their coverage is NOT WORTH the yearly cost of getting their insurance..I have been looking around and I am going to cancel with them and go with Healthy Paws...VPI is NOT veterinary recommended...they used to be, but look at the benefit costs and know that when you really need them, they won't be there for you.
I would discourage anyone from joining VPI because when they have outdated prices that they cover...my surgeon said that the $385 they 'coverage' for the surgery wouldn't have covered it in 1960's!!!!!
Monetary Loss: $2400.

We had a very sick 4 year old dog with sudden onset respiratory symptoms. Took him to the ER.
Turned out to be a form of lung cancer and the dog was euthanized. I was reimbursed ~$600 for a $3000 bill. I did not do every test under the sun.
Main portion of bill was "nursing care", oxygen, and fine needle biopsy. We changed to Pet Plan and they are less expensive with better reimbursement and good reviews.
